Summer Info From Mr. Stanton

June 1-4 – Color Guard, Drum
Line, and Officer Camp – 9:00am – 3:00pm Students need to bring a
lunch daily, wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothes, and bring
sunscreen. Please contact Mr. Stanton for more information.
June 7, 14, 21, and 28 – Full
Band rehearsals – 6:00-8:00 for winds, 6:00-8:30 for guard and
percussion
June 10, 17, and 24 – New Guard
members rehearsal – 6:00-8:30 (this is a change from original
literature – please contact Mr. Stanton or Mr. Bertles for more
information)
July 15-21 – Band Camp – All
marching band (including Color Guard) members are REQUIRED to
attend. See calendar for times. If you are interested in
sponsoring or providing lunch or dinner for camp, please contact Mr.
Stanton.
Attendance Policy – please note
that absences from rehearsals are counted as unexcused until a note
is on file with the band office AND the absence is deemed excused by
Mr. Stanton. Advanced notice is required for absences during the
summer. July band camp activities must NOT be missed. Missing band
camp will result in your child being removed from portions of the
contest show. |

annual RCHS Band Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 15th
at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in the Activity Center. The
address is 2533 Stanton Road in Conyers. Dinner begins at 6:30pm
with the awards beginning at 7:30pm. Parents and students with
reservations are welcome to come for dinner at 6:30pm. Those
without reservations may attend the awards ceremony at 7:30pm. If
you have any questions, please contact Mr. Stanton. |

assigned band parent meeting as follows:

7:30pm - All returning parents of rising 10th, 11th, and 12th
graders
b. Monday, May 24th -
7:30pm - All NEW band members regardless of grade level
At this meeting we will be
distributing information regarding our band and band booster
program. One or both parents/guardians per family are required

Large Group Performance Evaluation

Info from Mr. Stanton:
Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) is an evaluation of our
band program and is our version of the EOCT, SAT, PSAT, ACT, and
other major tests/exams. LGPE evaluates the Georgia
Performance Standards and the National Standards for Music
Education. Performing in this event is MANDATORY for all band
members. A schedule for those days will be published soon.
Students must have a permission form on file in the band office for
this event. Permissions forms will be distributed in class and
will be posted on the band website closer to the LGPE event.

Pledge-A-Thon sheets are being distributed in classes and at Winter
Guard rehearsal February 3rd and 4th. All band members are to
submit a minimum of 10 names and addresses of friends and relatives,
preferably out of town, no later than Tuesday, February 9th.
Families with two or three students in the RCHS Band program should
submit a minimum of 15 names per family.

Attendance is graded. Sectional rehearsal missed MUST be made
up by Winter Break. If an absence is necessary, it is the
student's responsibility to talk with Mr. Stanton about an
appropriate make up rehearsal date and time. Students who have
not completed the rehearsal requirement will NOT be permitted to
participate in Large Group Performance Evaluation or the
Pre-Festival Concert.

Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois this week.

year’s conference will feature over 90
clinics, more than 30 band, orchestra, and
jazz
concerts, and hundreds of
exhibits designed to inspire and inform
music educators. Thousands of teachers, students, professional
musicians, and administrators will gather at the historic Chicago
Hilton for this event. |

"ALL Rockdale County schools will
be closed tomorrow for students and staff due to potentially
hazardous road conditions caused by flooding. This decision
was made in collaboration with law enforcement to ensure the safety
of our students and staff."

be no marching band rehearsal. |

of all profits made between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm to the
Rockdale County High School Band Boosters
