Open House Performance Update

The band will be performing at Tuesday evening’s Open House.  This performance will begin between 3:30 and 3:40 and will conclude around 4:00pm.  Students are to wear their new gray band shirt and shorts.  After our performance, the students will be dismissed to participate in the open house.  Students are to meet in the band room at 3:00pm.

 
     
   

Drum Line Performances

The RCHS Drum Line was invited this week to perform at the Church Music Georgia conference at First Baptist Church in Snellville.  Information about this performance can be found here.  In addition, the drum line will perform on August 29th (rehearsal on Wednesday, August 25th) at First Baptist Conyers during the Stone Mountain Baptist Association’s yearly music conference.  Further details will be forthcoming.

CHARMS - Parent/Student Database

Parents - To better serve our band members and parents, the RCHS Band has now begun using the Charms Office Assistant for our record keeping.  You will be able to access your child's financial information, update personal information such as address and phone numbers, and communicate with the band directors through this system.  It will also allow the band directors and booster officers to communicate in a quick and efficient method with both parents and students.  This system does not take the place of our website, but does allow for another method in keeping you informed.  At this time, all parents should attempt to log into the Charms Office Assistant and correct any personal information that is missing or incorrect (address, phone, e-mail, etc.  Instructions are located on our website.  Please note that financial records will be updated by July 10th as we transition to this new system and do not reflect your current account balance.

Band Fees

Band Fees - ALL band fees are due no later than July 16th.  Please note that if your child has decided not to march, the full fee is still charged as we have already planned for your child to participate based on your child's commitment.  If you require a payment plan beyond what was prescribed in April, you must contact Mr. Stanton no later than July 12th to set up a plan.  You may reach Mr. Stanton via e-mail at sstanton@rockdale.k12.ga.us or call 770-842-0699 (July 8-12 only).

 
     
   

Band Camp

Band Camp information to be posted soon.  Please see the calendar for the general times.  New students and guard members MUST wear athletic shoes each camp day (absolutely no flip flops, sandals, or open toed shoes).  Returning band members should wear their marching band shoes to camp and all rehearsals.  Additional information forthcoming.

Parents will have access to their child's band information including financial accounts with the band, student/parent information, and other important information soon.  Directions to access this information will be sent via e-mail soon.  If you have not returned your child's band registration form with current e-mail information, you will not be able to access this account. 

 

Band camp is less than one month away.  Please check the band calendar and your band schedule distributed to your child in April for further information.  Information will be sent home regarding specifics about band camp.

July 15-21 – Band Camp – All marching band (including Color Guard) members are REQUIRED to attend.  See calendar for times.  If you are interested in sponsoring or providing lunch or dinner for camp, please contact Mr. Stanton. 

 

Attendance Policy – please note that absences from rehearsals are counted as unexcused until a note is on file with the band office AND the absence is deemed excused by Mr. Stanton.  Advanced notice is required for absences during the summer.  July band camp activities must NOT be missed.  Missing band camp will result in your child being removed from portions of the contest show.

June 1-4 – Color Guard, Drum Line, and Officer Camp – 9:00am – 3:00pm  Students need to bring a lunch daily, wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothes, and bring sunscreen.  Please contact Mr. Stanton for more information.

 

June 7, 14, 21, and 28 – Full Band rehearsals – 6:00-8:00 for winds, 6:00-8:30 for guard and percussion

 

June 10, 17, and 24 – New Guard members rehearsal – 6:00-8:30 (this is a change from original literature – please contact Mr. Stanton or Mr. Bertles for more information)
