Scott Stanton is the Director of Bands at
Rockdale County High School in Conyers, GA after a year as Associate
Director. A native of Columbia, SC, Mr. Stanton is married to
Holly Stanton and they have three children, Kayleigh, Carter, and Tyler. Mr.
Stanton received his Bachelor of Music Degree with a Percussion
Performance Certificate from the University of South Carolina (Columbia,
SC) and the Master of Music Education Degree from VanderCook College of
Music (Chicago, IL).
Prior to his arrival at RCHS, Mr. Stanton
served as the Assistant Band Director at Rockdale County High School for
three years, as the Director of Bands at Jasper County (Monticello)
Middle and High Schools for five years, and the Director of Bands at
Conyers Middle School for four years. The Jasper County Band and
Conyers Middle School Band improved from straight four (fair) ratings
the year prior to his arrival to receiving consistent superior and
excellent ratings at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation and at
Marching and Concert Festivals. His bands have performed for the
Governor of Georgia, in the Bahamas, and at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
In addition to being an educator, Mr.
Stanton serves as the Orchestra Director, a deacon, and a co-leader of
the Joshua’s Men I group at First Baptist Church of Conyers. He
was the Youth Minister at Northminster Baptist Church in Conyers for two
years. Mr. Stanton also works with several drum lines and teaches
private percussion lessons in the Atlanta east metro area. He is
active as a percussionist in the Metro Atlanta area having played in the
opening ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, the Mid-West
International Band and Orchestra Convention (Tara Winds), the Georgia
Music Educators Association In-Service Conference, the South Carolina
Band Director's Association In-Service Conference (guest soloist with
Hand Middle School), and with several area churches and community
groups. |

Christopher Coleman

Christopher Coleman is
the Associate Director of Bands at Rockdale County High School in
Conyers, GA. A native of Miami, FL, Mr. Coleman attended Miami
Jackson Senior High School where he was an All-State tuba player,
tuba section leader as a freshman and sophomore, student conductor,
and captain of the football team. Mr. Coleman went on to attend
Florida State University where he received his Bachelors of Music
Education degree in Instrumental Music Education.
Prior to Mr. Coleman’s
arrival to Rockdale County High School, he served as Director of
Bands at Homestead Senior High School located in Homestead, FL for
three years. During his tenure at Homestead, Mr. Coleman improved
the music department’s overall performance ability in the marching
band, concert band, and choir. His marching bands have appeared in
numerous community events, traveled to Naples, FL and have been
invited to represent the South All-Dade football team in the North
vs. South Miami-Dade County football game. Mr. Coleman also served
as Co-Director of Bands for the All-Dade Marching Band which was
composed of select students from all of the marching bands in
Miami-Dade County, 430 marching band members in total. The All-Dade
Marching Band performed for the All-Broward vs. All-Dade Annual
Football Classic and was televised on ESPN.
In addition to teaching,
Mr. Coleman enjoys having fun playing basketball and football. He
welcomes all challengers! Mr. Coleman also enjoys reading, learning,
and becoming a better person through his faith. A couple of his
quotes to his students are “high school is just a bus stop in the
great journey of becoming the person you desire to be in the future”
and “you’re not always responsible for life knocking you down, but
you are ALWAYS responsible for getting back up.”
